Every two (2) weeks\, a 2 hour live session is held (attendance is mandatory) to allow for discussion and reflection with the trainer and fellow learners. \nAlthough we may like just reading documents and listening to lectures\, educational science says there are more effective ways to learn. Our training philosophy is based on the principles described in the “Main principles of teaching” chapter in the Zero Waste training Handbook. \nOur curriculum consists of 13 Modules spread over 16 weeks. The training is divided between independent\, self-paced study and live sessions. The learner should commit between 1-3 hours of independent study per module. \nLearners must submit assignments to advance in the course. Assignments related to live sessions shall be submitted 24 hours ahead of the session. Failure to submit will block the learner’s access to the next live session. At the end of the program\, successful leaners will receive their Mission Zero Academy Mentor Accreditation. SUMMARY:III Estonian Zero Waste Conference ''Circular Systems are a Reality''
DESCRIPTION:On Oct 2-3\, 2024 the Let’s Do It Foundation will be organising in Tartu\, Estonia the III Estonian Zero Waste Conference\, this year titled “Circular Systems are a Reality”. \nAs the title says\, this year our focus is on already existing systemic zero waste solutions. Zero waste cities and systems are not a theoretical possibility but living examples all over Europe and we wish to bring together some of them. For example the use of reusable tableware at public events that from the beginning of 2024 is compulsory all over Estonia\, or Zero Waste Cities and Business certification schemes. \nOne of the main principles of Let’s Do It Foundation is providing possibilities for true learning. Therefore there are no plenary presentations and lectures at our conference. It will offer a variety of learning workshops on the first day and world cafe style networking and experience sharing from different initiatives all over Europe on the second day. The conference ends with our already traditional panel discussion where the speakers are conference participants themselves\, who will be selected during the conference. \nThe host city of this year’s conference is Tartu\, that carries the title of the European Capital of Culture 2024 that has also put considerable effort into environmentally friendly event management. \nSome of the topics covered at the conference are:  \n\nZero Waste events\nEffective communication with stakeholders\nReuse systems\nZero Waste Cities and Business certification schemes\n\nThe conference is open for everyone*\, but the content is most relevant for: \n\nRepresentatives of local municipalities and ministries\nLocal and regional development centres\nEducators and trainers\nCircular business model enthusiasts\nHigher education representatives\nEnvironmental organisations and initiatives\n\n*The conference will be held in English (some sessions are held in Estonian). Tiene como objetivo defender los sistemas sostenibles de consumo y el rediseño de la relación de la humanidad con los recursos\, acelerando una transición justa hacia el residuo cero en beneficio de las personas y el planeta. Misión Zero Academy (MiZA) es un centro de desarrollo de capacidades para responsables locales\, PYMES y otras organizaciones que deseen dar un paso hacia adelante en sus estrategias de residuos cero y en la aplicación de la economía circular. Ibérica Ambiente es la entidad acreditada por Mission Zero Academy para fomentar las políticas locales y desarrollar planes de residuo cero (Zero Waste) en España y Portugal.  \nJornadas técnicas sobre sistemas de recogida de la fracción orgánica \nPresentación: \nTras la promulgación de la Ley de Residuos en abril de 2022 son muchos los retos a los que se enfrentan las entidades locales en la gestión local de sus residuos municipales. Retos que no son nuevos. Desde las primeras décadas de este siglo son muchos los municipios que han abordado la gestión de sus residuos desde una perspectiva medioambiental. Actualmente\, la Ley 7/2022\, de 8 de abril\, de residuos y suelos contaminados para una economía circular viene a reforzar y dar legitimidad a esas iniciativas locales que hoy nos sirven de inspiración.  \nLa palanca de cambio más radical nos llega de la mano del impuesto al vertido. Este impuesto no se ha planteado para ahogar económicamente a los municipios\, ya que regula también la creación de la tasa no deficitaria\, creando una situación diferencial para promover la puesta en marcha de soluciones que minimicen el vertido de residuos en vertedero y potencien de forma inmediata la reducción en la producción\, a la vez que realza la importancia de la prevención y la reutilización y fomenta la recogida selectiva y reciclaje de todos los residuos susceptibles de ser recuperados y reintroducidos en el ciclo productivo.  \nSabemos hoy que abordar la gestión ambiental y de proximidad de la fracción orgánica\, por ser el componente con mayor porcentaje en peso\, es una decisión no solo obligada por nuestra ley\, sino acertada desde un punto de vista técnico\, y necesaria desde esa perspectiva medioambiental que todos y todas compartimos.   \nExisten ejemplos inspiradores de éxito en la gestión municipal de la FORM. Conocer las mejores prácticas\, sean de fuera o dentro de Andalucía\, nos va a facilitar la elección de los modelos de gestión de los biorresiduos más acordes con los condicionantes geográficos\, políticos y socioeconómicos de nuestras localidades. Son sistemas que\, además de buscar recuperar los biorresiduos\, promueven la participación ciudadana y la corresponsabilidad ambiental tanto en la puesta en marcha de comportamientos de consumo sostenible\, como de reducción o separación en origen\, ofreciendo un nuevo enfoque\, que conocemos con varios nombres  (alta eficiencia\, Residuo Cero\, etc) y que nos que lleva a plantear un cambio de paradigma.\n \nEstas jornadas nos permitirán conocer los modelos y sistemas de gestión de la fracción orgánica que hoy conviven en nuestro país\, así como los pros y los contras de cada uno. Desde el autocompostaje (compostaje doméstico\, comunitario o agro-compostaje) hasta los sistemas más innovadores de fiscalidad verde\, como el pago por generación (PxG) o el pago por participación (PxP). Municipalities bear the cost: 30–50% of urban litter management budgets go to cleaning up single-use waste\, while recycling rates remain low. \nWhile more and more European cities are testing reuse through event pilots\, voluntary schemes\, or HoReCa initiatives – often alongside levies or regulatory measures to curb single-use – many critical questions remain: \n\nWhat makes a city-wide reuse system successful?\n\n\nHow can public-private partnerships be structured to enable competition while ensuring standardisation\, inclusivity\, and interoperability in the long run?\n\n\nHow can cities move from short-term pilots to durable\, scalable systems?\nWhich policy\, governance\, and financial frameworks deliver real results?\n\nThis field trip is designed to answer these questions – grounded in real operational experience and building on the expertise of a multi-stakeholder group of participants. \nFrom pilots to city-wide systems\nDenmark is leading the way with city-wide reuse systems that prove another model is possible.
