Personal bio
Ivo Kropáček graduated in 2000 with a degree in chemistry and environmental protection technology from the Brno University of Technology. The topic of his thesis was zero waste. Since 1997, he has been working as a waste management expert at the Hnutí DUHA organization. He cooperates with municipalities on improving waste management, is the author of dozens of publications on waste management, and helps the public gain access to the preparation of regional waste management strategies and plans. He is a member of the Waste Management Council, an advisory body to the Minister of the Environment, and the Monitoring Committee of the Operational Program Environment. In his free time, he tends to a large garden and bees. He enjoys cycling, hiking, and orienteering.

Project experiences
- Project ERIC: Elevating Reuse in Cities. Time: 2023-2024. Together with municipality Majetín we prepare plans for plastic prevention for Majetín. What was achieved: - Plastic prevention plan hs been prepared and accepted by municipality Council, - Municipality office adopted plan to reduce plastic in the office. - Plastic waste has been reduced to more than 300 kg in cultural events and to more than 1000 kg in swimming pool.
- Support for Moravian municipalities in waste management analysis and reducing mixed municipal waste. Time: 2025. What was achieved: - We analysed mixed waste from different municipalities, - We make the movie about how to do that in other municipalites, - We informed municipalities about the possiblity how to reduce mixed waste.
- Analyze and prepare waste strategies for municipalities. Time: 2022-2025 What was achieved: - We made analysis of the waste management in several municipalities, - We prepare suggestions for municipalities how to improve waste management to meet mandatory targets for separation of waste - In some municipalities we did analyse of mixed waste content.
