Are you interested in learning how cities can transition toward zero waste and circular economy principles?
We are currently preparing an in-depth training programme, “How to Build a Zero Waste City”, planned for April 2026.
What you will gain from the course:
- A clear understanding of what zero waste management and a Zero Waste City are, and why they matter
- Knowledge of preferred waste management and treatment methods based on the Zero Waste hierarchy
- Practical skills for working with key waste-related data and understanding its role in decision-making
- Insight into waste prevention and reduction measures and their real-world impact
- An overview of key stakeholders in zero waste systems and effective engagement strategies
- The ability to plan activities toward applying for the Zero Waste City certification and understanding its benefits for municipalities
What makes this course different?
While many programmes address waste management and circular economy topics, our training is uniquely grounded in educational psychology. The content is designed based on the latest research on how people learn and retain new knowledge—an approach that is still rarely applied in sustainability education.
In addition, this is one of the few trainings that provides a comprehensive and practical overview of the Zero Waste City certification process, including its strategic value and long-term benefits for cities.
This training is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 2 – Cooperation Partnerships in Adult Education) under project reference 2025-1-EE01-KA220-ADU-000362148 and is developed in collaboration with Zero Waste Estonia and its project partners: Ekologi Brez Meja (Slovenia), Mission Zero Academy, and Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine.
