Personal bio

Beth Fiteni is the Circular Economy and Resource Use Campaign Manager. Beth has a Masters Degree in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, as well as thirty years of experience working in the environmental movement for non-profit organisations in the U.S. Since 2011, she was Founder and Director of Green Inside and Out, a nonprofit based in New York, and hosted The Sustainable Living Podcast, as well as radio show at WUSB Stony Brook University. Beth was a founding member of the Long Island Organics Council and Taking a Lead on Zero Waste, which focuses on composting and waste reduction efforts. She is the author of the book, “The Green Wardrobe Guide – Finding EcoChic Fashions that Look Great and Help Save the Planet.”
Beth has served on numerous Boards of Directors for NGOs and won several awards for her work, including the US EPA’s Environmental Quality award in 2010. Beth offered a TEDx Talk at Adelphi University in March 2018 entitled, “The Toxic Talk – Your Power Over Pollutants.” She is half-Maltese, loves Malta very much, and is trying to learn to speak Maltese!

Project experiences

  • Managing EU funded food waste reduction project to engage in the use of an app called Foodprint with partners in Cyprus;
  • Director of NGO in the US which successfully spearheaded a state-funded compost drop-off site project which was the first one in the region and collected about 1 ton of food scraps per month;
  • Coordinating clothing swaps and repair events, and offering presentations through Friends of the Earth Malta; host podcast on waste reduction and other sustainability topics.
