Personal bio

Marta Brazão has a degree in Social Service from ISCSP – University of Lisbon and a Master’s degree in Environmental and Sustainability Studies from ISCTE. She has worked at Circular Economy Circular for 8 years promoting the concept of circular economy, especially in the implementation of projects that promote sharing , repair and reuse. It is also dedicated to the development and coordination of activities and courses on the topic for different audiences. She is also a PhD candidate at University of Lisbon.

Project experiences

  • 2020 - 2022 (Lisbon) Project Leader: CPR (Conselho Português para os Refugiados) Project that aimed to give refugees and migrants circular competences (in sustainable cooking, circular fashion and repair) since there is an opportunity for these skills to be used as a way to facilitate their integration in the countries they are now living. What was achieved: - 60 refugees in 4 european countries were trained in one of the three circular competences - 3 Training modules were created about sustainable cooking, circular fashion and repair a disseminated in 4 languages - The three training modules were already used in other trainings, creating a replicating effect
  • 2021 (Lisbon) Project Leader: Circular Economy Portugal The REPARAR project was completely dedicated to Repair. Within the scope of this project, several activities were carried out, such as Repair Café, survey about repair, mapping repairers in one municipality and the creation of a website with content about repair. What was achieved: - A survey was conducted with more than 300 responses about obstacles to repair WEEE and what needs to be done to promote WEEE repair - The repair map was consulted by more than 20 000 people - We promote more than 45 repairs in our Repair Café events
  • 2021 - 2022 (Portugal - Spain) Project Leader: Leiria University Training sessions on circular economy and application of circularity assessment tools in micro-enterprises and SMEs in the agri-food sector. What was achieved: - Report on measures to increase circularity in 22 companies - Implementation of several circular economy strategies in 22 companies - 2 Workshops done about circular economy, carbon footprint to staff members of the companies
