We are thrilled to announce that MiZA, in collaboration with our mentoring organisation Rezero, has been selected as one of the seven laureates of the Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) 2nd call for projects dedicated to Mediterranean islands!
Our project, Marine-ZWB, will focus on combating plastic pollution in the Balearic Islands by engaging stakeholders in the maritime tourism sector, such as aquatic sports businesses, feries, etc.. Despite the sector’s significant role in the region, it currently lacks zero-waste standards and falls short of EU recycling targets. But fear not, this project will take those standards to new heights!
Through awareness-raising campaigns and events, the Marine-ZWB project will promote the adoption of zero-waste practices, backed by a certification system developed and adapted to sectoral realities by MiZA and Rezero. This initiative builds on our prior success in driving sustainability across other sectors in Spain and Europe.
We’re honoured to contribute to a cleaner Mediterranean and excited to work alongside other inspiring projects to tackle plastic pollution.
